Subnautica 2 crafting materials come from four sources: loose pieces and small nodes on the seabed and in caves, large deposits that need the Sonic Resonator or its Feedback Resonator upgrade, lifeforms you cut with the Survival Multitool or pick by hand, and Metal Salvage from wrecks. Titanium and Quartz turn up almost everywhere, while Salt, Sulfur, Lithium and deep Karakorum minerals such as Troilite and Atacamite sit in specific biomes. The tables below cover every raw material on the official wiki.
This guide reflects the official Subnautica 2 Wiki and Unknown Worlds patch notes as of Buddy System Hotfix 2 (October 6, 2026). The game is in Early Access, so spawn spots, recipes and balance can change in later updates.
01
Every raw material at a glance
Raw materials feed the Fabricator and Processor, which turn them into Basic Materials, Advanced Materials and Electronics. Titanium, Copper and Quartz give 1 per loose piece, 3 per node and 5 per deposit, while Silver nodes give 2 to 3. A small node takes three hits by hand or one with any tool, and deposits need the Sonic Resonator, or the Feedback Resonator for Atacamite. The Void around the map edge lists no resources at all. Coordinates on this page are the ones listed on the official wiki.
| Material | Where (biomes) | How to collect | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium | All main biomes | Pieces, nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Most common resource; 1 Metal Salvage becomes 4 Titanium at the Fabricator |
| Copper | Shallows, Plateaus, Dolerite Spires, Graveyard, Necrolei Hills, Lead Zone, Intermediary Basin, Overgrown Ruins, Needler Nest | Pieces, nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Tends to grow on cave walls, ceilings and under overhangs, not on the seafloor |
| Quartz | All main biomes except the Karakorum Metal Farms | Pieces, nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Plentiful in and around Coral Domes in the Shallows |
| Silver | Plateaus, Necrolei Hills, Graveyard, Dolerite Spires, Silver Mines | Pieces, nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Shallowest listed Silver Mine: -332714, 456820 @ 95m, near the Canteen wreck; Early Access Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026) added more early-game Silver areas, and update 1.1 added a hint line near Silver |
| Gold | Graveyard and Graveyard Caves, Root Canyon, Thermal Vent Clusters | Nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Vent clusters are the main Gold and Sulfur source in the Karakorum region |
| Salt | Graveyard and its caves, Intermediary Basin, Root Canyon, Overgrown Ruins, North and South Raceway, Dolerite Spires | Nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Graveyard salt nodes respawn |
| Sulfur | Graveyard and its caves, Thermal Vent Clusters, Root Canyon, Overgrown Ruins | Loose pieces, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Caves and volcanic seafloor; Strong Acid ingredient |
| Lead | Lead Zone, Overgrown Ruins | Nodes, deposits (Sonic Resonator) | Good spot: Cicada Wreck (Lander Garage), about 370 m northeast of the Lifepod |
| Lithium | Graveyard Caves, inside the Great Jaw (Dolerite Spires) | Deposits (Sonic Resonator) | One loose piece sits on a Tailing Table near the Great Jaw |
| Celestine | Intermediary Basin, Needler Nest, Root Canyon, Karakorum Metal Farms, below the Karakorum Power Plant | Deposits only (Sonic Resonator) | Refines into Strontium |
| Conduit Crystal | Cliffs above the Angel Comb below the Karakorum Power Plant, and south of the Karakorum Metal Farms | Large deposits only (Sonic Resonator) | Axum Conduits create new crystals with lightning |
| Creature Enamel | Enamel Husks on the Needler Nest walls, inside and out | Sonic Resonator on Enamel Husks | Needed for Enameled Glass |
| Troilite | Mineralized Clinkers in the Karakorum Metal Farms | Sonic Resonator on clinkers | Clinkers respawn |
| Atacamite | Karakorum Metal Farms, below the Karakorum Power Plant | Deposits only (Feedback Resonator) | Sonic Resonator no longer works on it |
| Metal Salvage | Shallows, nearby areas and around wrecks | Pick up | Converts into Titanium |
| Axum Bacterial Culture | Glowing runoff pools in the Karakorum Metal Farms | Break the cage around it, then harvest | Finite: the wiki knows of five |
Materials from lifeforms
| Material | Source | How to collect | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fibrous Pulp | Curtain Gorgon, Whip Gorgon, Feather Kelp, Macaron Sponge, Cradle Shootroot, Freesia Flower | Survival Multitool | 2 make 1 Fiber |
| Acidic Raion Pouch | Acid Raions, mostly in Shallows caves | Survival Multitool, three per Raion | Basic Battery and Mild Acid ingredient; regrows |
| Medical Gel Sac | Top of each Acid Raion | By hand, after cutting off the pouches | Restores 10 health; taking it first releases a damaging cloud |
| Lucifer Rotsac | On Cradle Shootroots in the Coral Gardens | By hand | Rubber and Grease; regrows |
| Necrolei Bud | Necrolei Cysts in the Necrolei Hills | Survival Multitool | 2 make Strong Acid; regrows |
| Pent | Clusters across the Coral Gardens | By hand | Biofuel Block ingredient; regrows |
| Crab Feces | Near Coral Crabs, such as the North and South Raceway | Pick up | Bioreactor fuel and Biofuel Blocks |
The wiki also lists Methane Clathrate, Ferrofluid Crystal, Tar Graphene and the Graphene Ingot, but tags them as unimplemented content found in the game files, so you can't plan around them yet.
02
How to get salt in Subnautica 2
Salt comes from small nodes you can break by hand or with any tool, and from larger Sonic Resonator deposits. The wiki's Salt entry lists the Graveyard, Intermediary Basin, Root Canyon and the area around the Overgrown Ruins, and biome pages add the North and South Raceway, the Dolerite Spires and the Graveyard Caves. Check where small current streams begin, since the wiki says salt deposits often form there. The Salt databank entry also points you to sandy seabeds and dead coral domes.
Coral Crabs are a bonus source: they may kick up raw materials while digging for food, and the wiki's drop table includes Salt in the Dolerite Spires, Graveyard and both Raceways. Salt mostly goes into food, but Power Cells, Power Storage and the Processor's alternate Glass recipe (2 Salt) need it too. Graveyard salt nodes are one of the few node types documented to respawn, and a Metal Farm grows 3 Salt per cycle.
03
Sulfur, troilite and atacamite
Sulfur
Sulfur (often searched as "sulfer") appears as loose pieces and as deposits that need the Sonic Resonator. Search cave walls, ceilings and floors and volcanic seafloor in the Graveyard and its caves, the Root Canyon and the Overgrown Ruins; the Graveyard's thermal vents hurt you until you adapt to the heat. The wiki calls the Thermal Vent Clusters in the Root Canyon walls the main Sulfur and Gold source in the Karakorum region, with one south of the Karakorum Power Plant at -166833, 459677 @ 320m. Sulfur and Gold make Strong Acid in the Processor, and Sulfur also goes into the Advanced Wiring Kit and the Repair Tool.
Troilite
In the wild, Subnautica 2 troilite comes only from Mineralized Clinkers, large green nodes in the Karakorum Metal Farms that you break with the Sonic Resonator. Unlike most deposits, clinkers respawn after a while. The wiki notes they were scarce and did not respawn at Early Access launch; Early Access Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026), an Early Access 1.0 patch not to be confused with Buddy System Hotfix 2, added more Troilite areas in the late-game region. A Collector Leviathan patrols above the farms, but the wiki says it won't notice you while you stay deeper than 350 m. Troilite goes into Axum Ingots, the Photovoltaic Charger and the Entangled Power Cell.
Atacamite
Atacamite in Subnautica 2 forms deposits in the Karakorum Metal Farms and below the Karakorum Power Plant. Since the Buddy System update on August 19, 2026, the Sonic Resonator can't break it, and the PDA warns that the resonator isn't strong enough. You need the Feedback Resonator, covered below. Each Axum Ingot takes one Atacamite, one Troilite and one Titanium Ingot.
04
How to get fibrous pulp in Subnautica 2
Fibrous Pulp only comes from lifeforms you cut with the Survival Multitool, which costs 3 Titanium and is available from the start. The wiki names six sources: Curtain Gorgon (Graveyard, Shallows), Whip Gorgon (Shallows, Plateaus), Feather Kelp (abundant in the Shallows caves), Macaron Sponge (Plateaus), Cradle Shootroot (Shallows) and Freesia Flower (Overgrown Ruins and Intermediary Basin).
Two Fibrous Pulp make one Fiber at the Fabricator, and the Processor turns 3 into Water or 5 into a Biofuel Block. Macaron Sponges and Freesia Flowers regrow after a while and can be grown in a Growbed. The Habitat Builder lists each plant for 3 Fibrous Pulp, so you can keep a supply at your base.
05
How to break big nodes in Subnautica 2
The large deposits players call big nodes can't be broken by hand or with the Multitool; you need the Sonic Resonator. Scanning two fragments unlocks the blueprint, and the wiki lists eleven fragment spots, including a shelf in the Old Habitat at -337674, 392986 @ 55m and just east of Camp One at -321514, 410443 @ 33m. Craft it at the Fabricator from 2 Titanium Ingots, 2 Lead, 1 Wiring Kit (1 Silver and 1 Copper Wire) and 1 Basic Battery (2 Copper and 1 Acidic Raion Pouch). The Lead guide shows where to get Lead early.
Aim at a deposit until the crosshair grows and turns green, hold the trigger for about a second to charge, then release. The databank says to "release the pulse when the reticle closes to shatter." The tool runs on a battery, and if the tool pop-up in the corner of your screen shows a question mark, you haven't unlocked the tool that target needs.
Atacamite needs the Feedback Resonator, built at the Modification Station from your Sonic Resonator, 2 Enameled Glass, 2 Conduit Crystal and 2 Strontium after scanning two fragments. Enameled Glass uses Creature Enamel, and the Conduit Crystal guide covers its deposits. With a resonator, the Overgrown Ruins pay off: the wiki describes large deposits of nearly every material across that island, though you cross a trench patrolled by a Collector Leviathan to reach it. The Resource Crusher you may read about is unimplemented, per the wiki.
06
Ingots and processed materials
Ingots come from the Processor. You unlock it by scanning one and build it with the Habitat Builder from 2 Titanium, 1 Mild Acid and 1 Copper Wire; building it also unlocks Titanium Ingots. Recipes and times as the wiki lists them:
| Ingot | Processor recipe | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium Ingot | 3 Titanium | 0:30 |
| Copper Ingot | 3 Copper | 0:30 |
| Silver Ingot | 3 Silver | 1:00 |
| Gold Ingot | 3 Gold | 1:00 |
| Germanium Ingot | 2 Silver, or 2 Lead | 2:00 |
| Plasteel Ingot | 2 Titanium and 1 Lithium | 2:00 |
| Strontium | 2 Celestine | 0:30 |
| Axum Ingot | 1 Titanium Ingot, 1 Atacamite and 1 Troilite | 0:30 |
Plasteel needs Lithium, and Strontium comes from Celestine. The Graphene Ingot (2 Tar Graphene and 1 Lithium) is unimplemented. Stockpile ingots for late-game Axum tech: repairing the Karakorum Power Plant turbine alone takes 10 Axum Ingots, 10 Strontium and 10 Titanium Ingots.
07
Do resources respawn in Subnautica 2?
Mostly not, going by the wiki. It treats respawning as the exception: Graveyard salt nodes and Mineralized Clinkers are described as coming back, unlike most other nodes and deposits. Conduit Crystals are a special case, because Axum Conduits create new crystal nodes with lightning while a few fixed deposits never return (the wiki's article says three, but its map data currently shows two). The wiki gives no respawn timers.
Living sources regrow after a while: Acid Raion pouches and gel sacs, Lucifer Rotsacs, Necrolei Buds, Pent, Macaron Sponges and Freesia Flowers. Each can also be grown in a Growbed (plant a Cradle Shootroot for Rotsacs, or a Necrolei Cyst for buds). Axum Bacterial Culture is the opposite: the wiki knows of only five, and each Metal Farm uses one.
For renewable minerals, build a Metal Farm from 1 Axum Ingot and 1 Axum Bacterial Culture after scanning the Axum farms in the Karakorum Metal Farms. Insert a sample (it isn't used up), keep the farm powered, then break the grown deposit with the Sonic Resonator (the wiki doesn't say whether farm-grown Atacamite needs the Feedback Resonator instead). The timer pauses when power runs short. Production as the wiki lists it:
| Metal Farm product | Yield | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium | 5 | 2:00 |
| Copper, Quartz, Salt | 3 each | 2:00 |
| Lead, Silver, Gold, Sulfur, Celestine | 3 each | 10:00 |
| Lithium, Creature Enamel, Conduit Crystal | 2 each | 10:00 |
| Atacamite | 2 | 20:00 |
| Troilite | 1 to 2 | 20:00 |

Finding materials faster
The Scanner Station is a seabase facility that maps resources within 300 m and can turn one into a HUD signal. It detects Titanium, Copper, Quartz, Silver, Gold, Salt, Sulfur, Lead, Celestine, Atacamite and Conduit Crystal, and a filter only appears when that resource is in range. Unlock it by scanning the stations at Camp One or the Old Habitat, then build it from 1 System Chip, 3 Titanium and 1 Wiring Kit. Buddy System Hotfix 2 fixed a bug where it didn't find resources accurately.
