There are no public Subnautica 2 codes to redeem right now: in the official news posts, Steam announcements and wiki pages reviewed on October 17, 2026, Unknown Worlds has not published any promo or redeem code for all players. The Tadpole Pens "code" isn't a number either. It's the Kurul Level Access Key, which you get as a Databank entry by picking up Zip's blackbox at the bottom of the Graveyard caves.

This page reflects Buddy System Hotfix 2 (October 6, 2026). Subnautica 2 is in Early Access, so locations, rewards and menus can change in later updates. Coordinates and depths below are the ones listed on the official wiki, not hands-on measurements.

01

Are there any Subnautica 2 redeem codes?

Only as event prizes, and none are public. The official wiki's Settings page lists a Redeem Item Code button in the Debug / Info tab, available from the main menu only, for entering a key that redeems an in-game item. So the game can accept codes, but the only item codes mentioned in the official posts reviewed were prizes for individual winners.

The only example is the #LeviathanAwakens fan art contest from May 2026. The official contest post promised a Sea Dragon Poster item code, plus a plushie 3-pack, to the first, second and third place winners and to 30 Special Award winners. It adds that the Sea Dragon Poster isn't exclusive to that event and may be handed out through other events later. The official wiki still lists the Sea Dragon Poster as an unreleased poster found in the game files.

For Subnautica 2 codes, redeem steps are simple: if an official event ever gives you one, open Settings from the main menu, go to the Debug / Info tab and use Redeem Item Code. Save Codes are something else. The Buddy System notes say they can be pasted into the Cloud Save Download box, which is for downloading cloud saves, not unlocking items.

Free rewards that need no code

Three community rewards unlocked without any code:

  • Reaper Leviathan Statue. After Subnautica 2 passed 5 million wishlists, Unknown Worlds announced on May 11, 2026 that every player on every platform would get this blueprint from the moment Early Access launched. The wiki lists it as unlocked by default.
  • Lost River Poster. The reward for the Alterra Career Aptitude Test event reaching 100,000 applications; the official post said it would be granted automatically to everyone who owns the game. The wiki says the goal was met about three hours after the announcement and lists the blueprint as unlocked by default.
  • #LeviathanAwakens Poster. The first-place fan art design, which the contest post said would reach all players in a future update. The wiki says you get its blueprint by scanning the poster in the Old Habitat's bunk bed room, listed at -336013, 394671 @ 50m.

Twitch Drops: the only reward drops so far

The wiki's Twitch Drops page lists five drops from the launch period, two of them in-game blueprints and three of them Twitch emotes:

DropHow it was earnedDates on the wiki
Seamoth Statue (the wiki's Seamoth Model blueprint)Watching at least 20 minutes of the live Pre-Launch Showcase on TwitchMay 9
SNHalfmoon Emote (Twitch emote)Watching any Subnautica 2 stream in launch weekMay 14 to May 21
Waterslug (Twitch emote)Subscribing, or gifting a sub, to a streamer in the category in launch weekMay 14 to May 21
Pioneer Hull Plate blueprintWatching 15 minutes of a participating streamMay 14 to May 29
Alterra Corporation (Twitch emote)Subscribing, or gifting a sub, in the second weekMay 21 to May 28

For the showcase drop, the official announcement gave these steps: claim the drop on Twitch's Drops & Rewards page, open Settings in the game, choose Link Twitch Account, log in to Twitch through the QR code or browser and authorize, then claim the reward under Check Twitch Drops. That reward could be claimed in-game through June 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM PDT. The wiki's Settings page lists Check Twitch Drops and Unlink Twitch Account as main-menu-only buttons.

All of these have ended. The wiki says the last campaign ended on May 28, 2026 (although its own table runs the Pioneer Hull Plate to May 29), and it marks both the Seamoth Model and the Pioneer Hull Plate as discontinued and currently unobtainable. The wiki also cites May 5, 2026 Discord messages saying drops would happen more than once, though possibly not for a few months. No new campaign appeared in the official news reviewed up to the October 15, 2026 post, so check the official news page for future events.

Spoiler note: the rest of this page names story locations, pioneer blackboxes and what sits behind the Tadpole Pens' locked door.

The Subnautica 2 Tadpole Pens code is the Kurul Level Access Key

The Tadpole Pens, Subnautica 2's old Tadpole fabrication and maintenance site, sit on the edge of the Graveyard. The wiki lists the base at -271618, 435346, 150m deep and 675m east of the Lifepod, and says you need the Heat Tolerance adaptation to approach it; the adaptations guide covers how to get it.

The left path through the entry room ends at a corridor you can't pass yet. Sophie's note there says the door is locked by "a kurultai-level passcode," and the site's Databank entry says access to the control room is secured by a passcode, with access codes stored in the PDAs and blackboxes of high-ranking colonists. Ganzo's "Waypoint 2" entry, on a crate in the same section, points the way: Zip died at the bottom of the hot caves carrying a kurultai access key, and his group headed southwest to find it.

So the Subnautica 2 code for Tadpole Pens is really this key, and there are no digits to type. The wiki says picking up Zip's blackbox gives you the Kurul Level Access Key as a Databank entry rather than an inventory item, and the blackbox log notes that kurultai access codes were retrieved. Once you have the key, you're scanned at the corridor left of the main entrance and let into more of the base. The official wiki documents no Subnautica 2 keycode for other doors either: it describes no keypad puzzles, and damaged wreck doors open with the Repair Tool instead.

Where to find Zip's blackbox

The hot caves are the Graveyard Caves, a set of extremely hot caves directly below the Graveyard, named for the many pioneers who died there. The wiki puts their main entrance at the Tailings Village (-288452, 451311, 80m-150m deep), where a Marrowbreach several times larger than usual stalks the open water above. Deeper in, at 210m, the mostly collapsed Hot Cave Basecamp (-306764, 460664) has a NoA unit inside and two Oxygen Tunics outside; each tunic bubble refills 30 points of oxygen, per the wiki.

Zip's blackbox lies at the bottom of the caves. The Kurul Level Access Key page lists it at -303399, 449728 @ 305m. The wiki's blackbox list gives the same spot as -303399, 449728, -30525 with a depth of 300 meters, even though the blackbox itself is titled "depth 305m." Nine more blackboxes listed in the Graveyard Caves carry the label "hot cave cluster," and a NoA log at the basecamp says nine colonists died in the caves looking for Zip's old blackbox, with only Twinkle and Ganzo reprinted.

BlackboxDepth listedCoordinates listed
Zip (depth 305m)300 meters-303399, 449728, -30525
Ganzo (hot cave cluster)230 meters-303417, 449733, -22946
Eddy (hot cave cluster)220 meters-294023, 462029, -22056
Twinkle (hot cave cluster)225 meters-302487, 457398, -22501
Raster (hot cave cluster)230 meters-299817, 453778, -22999
Rowboat (hot cave cluster)235 meters-298104, 453254, -23343
Ander (hot cave cluster)245 meters-301855, 456811, -24464
Wander (hot cave cluster)245 meters-302398, 455357, -24556
Gram (hot cave cluster)255 meters-300351, 453090, -25520
Sean (hot cave cluster)260 meters-305229, 451881, -26067

Ganzo's blackbox shares nearly the same map position as Zip's but is listed at 230 meters. Heat Tolerance gives you full access to the Graveyard, but the wiki says it doesn't make you immune to long exposure near heat sources such as thermal vents. For the surrounding biomes, see the map and biomes guide.

06

What the Tadpole Pens key opens

Once the corridor lets you through, the wiki describes three areas:

  • Workstations. More furniture scans, including the Scout Ray Poster and Power Storage, plus a Repair Tool fragment on a desk in a nook, listed at -269872, 432264 @ 150m.
  • Axum Supply Closet. A closet of Axum artifacts, including the Small, Tall and regular Axum Jar, the Small and regular Coral Jar and the Axum Wall Lamp, plus Sophie's Databank entry about why the ruins are a protected zone.
  • Observation deck. Up a ladder are the resident NoA unit and a connected biobed holding Sophie Boucher's ghost, which you can talk to through the NoA terminal.

Some of the site needs no key. Off the entry room, the Moonpool holds a docked, unusable Tadpole with a Scout Ray Chassis you can scan for its blueprint, and crates on the site hold Tadpole fragments; the Tadpole guide covers building one. For the story route before and after this base, see the walkthrough.

07

Console item codes and code scams

Subnautica 2 item codes in the cheat sense are console spawn IDs. Those need a community mod, because the official wiki says console commands are currently only reachable through mods. The mods and console commands guide covers the official stance on modding, the command syntax and a sample of spawn IDs.

Be wary of code generators and "free key" sites (general advice, not an official statement). In the official sources reviewed, rewards came only through Unknown Worlds events, Twitch account linking and automatic unlocks, never through third-party generators. Don't enter your Steam, Xbox, Epic or Twitch login on sites promising free keys or unlock codes, and don't run downloads that claim to unlock content. Real announcements come through the official news page, the official Discord and the Steam store page.
